MAWATA SERIES

These vessels are all made from silk "mawatas" which I have hand-dyed, then formed into vessels.  A mawata is a single cocoon which has been degummed and stretched over a form into a square shape and looks somewhat like an intricate cobweb.

OTHER DECORATIVE VESSELS

These vessels are made from "caps" - a cap is a single cocoon which is degummed, then stretched over and pulled down a wooden form that results in a cap-shape.  I hand-dye and form the caps into create dynamic shapes.

These boxes are formed by hand from book board (a type of very heavy cardboard),

then covered with sheets of silk fusion.
