SILK FUSION
This new craft medium, also known as “silk paper,” has dramatic possibilities. Using dyed, 100% unspun silk fibers and borrowing techniques from both felting and papermaking, the lustrous results can be used as fabric or paper. It can be painted, stitched, sculpted, manipulated to create 2- and 3-dimensional “paintings,” used in collage. book arts or even in a computer printer. This exciting two-day workshop will introduce you to basic as well as advanced materials and techniques including surface design options. You will create a variety of silk fusion pieces, as well as individual projects which might include unusual postcards, a “mawata” painting, a small molded vessel, a covered notepad or perhaps a design for a piece of wearable art.
"The Silk Fusion course I took was wonderful. Suzanne was informative, creative and great fun to work with. And silk fusion is so versatile! " a student at Brookfield Craft Center, Connecticut.

THE ART OF PUBLICITY
Publicity, free publicity, is one of the best ways to market your work. The basics are easy to learn. This two-day workshop will help you toot your own horn and introduce you to all the publicity tools you will need to spread the word about your art or craft. We'll explore how to write and when to use press releases, press kits, and other presentations. You will learn a variety of intriguing publicity options and the components of a successful publicity plan. There will be fun mini-writing exercises, lots of friendly feedback, numerous tip-sheets and examples. Participants will be asked to submit an image of their art/craft work prior to the workshop so the course can be designed around your specific interests.
Note: This workshop is also for galleries - learn how to publicize your gallery using all the same techniques, plus some additional, creative options you may not have considered previously.
"I've seen publicity work Suzanne has done for a number of different artists and organizations. It is always creative, professional and very innovative, plus she's easy to work with. She's also a great teacher." Carolyn Hecker, founder, Maine Crafts Association
